My name is Mary and I am a nurse and surgery coordinator for all surgeons here at Newport Care Medical Group. I grew up in Orange County and swam competitively starting at the age of five. When I was fourteen I was 10th in the nation and at seventeen I received a full ride for swimming to the University of Hawaii. I received my nursing degree in 2011 and have been enjoying my career ever since. My activities now consist of Olympic lifting, Crossfit and taking my Golden Retriever puppy, Cooper, to the beach.
Here at Newport Care, I am responsible for the total surgical experience for our patients. Making sure patients are completely prepared going into surgery and having someone for post-surgery questions is extremely important. We always make sure patients have individual attention and priority. My favorite part of the job is being able to see the successful outcomes of the surgery. Patients are usually in pain going into surgery and have difficulty doing activities during their daily routine, the things they love, or in some cases can’t even walk. Watching them come in afterwards, thanking the surgeons, with a new outlook on life because the scoliosis patient can stand straight up, the carpal tunnel patient can now feel their hand and grip a glass of water, the torn rotator cuff patient can lift their arm above their head pain free, the total hip patient can walk without pain… it’s all amazing to watch and makes my job very satisfying.
